Affi is located in the northwestern part of the Province of Verona, in the hinterland of Lake Garda near Bardolino and Rivoli Veronese. It is in the southern part of the plain of Caprino between the morainic amphitheater of Rivoli Veronese and Garda, incorporating the characteristic relief of the mountain Moscal (427 m asl), which rises suddenly on the plain. The municipality covers an area of 9.84 square kilometers and is crossed by the torrent Tasso.
Geological analysis shows that the territory of Affi consists mainly of sedimentary rocks and moraine and alluvial materials. The Sengie of Mount Moscal consist of limestone, which originated during the Oligocene and Miocene, where many fossils have been found. Remain relevant even traces of glaciation. The territory of Affi has a Sub-Mediterranean climate with dry summers, frequently interrupted by storms, winters and long dry periods. The vegetation consists mainly of mixed forests of oaks, hornbeam and manna ash.
TRIVIA: The name seems to have origin from a Roman legionnaire named Affius, but some recent research argue for a derivation from the Germanic name Affi, of Lombard or German origin. In the first half of the sixteenth century lived in his own palace in Incaffi the great humanist and scientist Girolamo Fracastoro.
